A leader of the birding community, master communicator, state bird of Massachusetts and Maine, winner of the 2020 ‘Battle of the Metalbirds’,  loyal friend to many and all up one of America’s most popular birds… please welcome the Chickadee to our Metalbird flock.

These beautiful little birds get their name from their distinctive “chich-a-dee-dee-dee” call. The more “dees” they add, the more agitated they are. The less “dees,” the happier. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of hand feeding them, you’ll notice their call has just the one “dee”… how cools that?

Despite being the silent type we’re sure our Chickadee will keep a smile on your face for years to come.

Our Chickadee is:

✓ 3.3 inches high by 6.2 inches wide (exl. the branch), approximately 8oz
✓ Easy to send our regular boxes are standard letter size, measuring 11" x 8" x 1/4"
✓ Same day dispatch on orders placed before 2pm on weekdays
✓ Made locally in a family-owned factory, right here in the US
Crafted from 1/8-inch Corten steel and designed to last a lifetime
✓ Easy to install holding on a downwards angle simply tap the thickest end of the stake with a hammer or mallet until secure

✓ Effortless install:

  1. Drill a pilot hole (recommended - but not essential): use a drill bit that’s
one size smaller than the spike (tight enough to hold)
  2. Tap Tap Tap: Grab your bird and gently tap the spike into your surface with a
hammer or mallet. About 1 to 2 inches deep is plenty, just enough to hold its
    weight.
  3. Step back: and admire your art.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.

what’s the word on the bird?
