SLIGHT DELAYS THANKS TO JOHN
With our recent appearance on John Oliver's 'Last Week Tonight' show, we've seen an influx of amazing customers, and despite our huge TV debut, our team is still small.
This means that we currently have a little longer than usual dispatch times. But rest assured our team is working, quite literally around the clock and your order should take flight within 3-5 working days for main collection and 7-10 working days for the Pūteketeke or even his 'Friend'.
At this stage, we are confident we will have your bird with you by Christmas!
CAN YOU PAINT THEM?
Due to our decision to manufacture with premium weathering steel, we do not recommend painting them.
WHO DESIGNS THE METALBIRDS?
All designs are dreamed up and designed by the Metalbird team and led by our founder Phil Walters. Each bird is carefully researched and add their distinctive artistic flair captured within our designs.
DO YOU DO CUSTOM BIRDS?
A lot of love, skill and time goes into the creation of one bird. We're a small team and at this stage it just isn't feasible for us to do small one-off projects - as much as we'd love to.
WHAT IS A METALBIRD MADE FROM?
Metalbirds are laser cut from Premium 1/8 inch Corten® steel.
A copper chromium alloy steel, our premium Corten steel is weather resistant - it's designed to quickly develop a patina (commonly assumed to be rust), which then gives a layer of protection sealing in the steel and preserving it. It means that Metalbirds last for decades, with a patina that changes with the seasons. Corten is the steel you see used in high-end exterior architecture. Once it develops a patina, it looks beautiful for years.
WHERE ARE METALBIRDS MADE?
We're proud to say that our birds are made in Orem, UT. Partnering with local, family owned factories is something we firmly believe in, regardless of the added cost. It means working with people we trust, remaining accountable to the environment, and strengthening local economies.
WILL MY METALBIRD SCARE OFF REAL BIRDS?
While we're not sure exactly what goes through a real Nuthatch's mind, we've received thousands of photos of real birds sitting on or next to our art pieces, so we can confidently say no!
CAN I INSTALL MY BIRD INTO A TREE?
Of course, it's important to ensure that the tree is not too young, too slender in the trunk, or thinly barked. Look for a mature, large tree with a girthy trunk and thick bark for best results.
Trees will reflexively seal around small holes made to prevent infection or disease from entering, as we've learned from consulting arborists! However, if you feel unsure, just explore the world for other spots and spaces!
I'm traveling. Can I take my Metalbird on the plane?
Please, pack your Metalbird in your checked bag. Do not pack your Metalbird in your carry-on baggage; it is a sharp metal, which unfortunately means it will be taken off you at security.
If you are worried about your Metalbird getting damaged in your checked baggage, a layer of bubble wrap is recommended, and place it flat, ideally against a hard side to help prevent bending during transit!
CAN METALBIRDS BE SENT AS GIFTS?
Absolutely… in fact, over half of the birds we sell are gifts. Just tell us the name and postal address of the lucky person and we’ll send it to them in its own beautiful recycled gift box. When you check out, you can even get us to insert a personalised message that our team will handwrite it on a beautiful card. And no… we won’t put anything in the box showing how much it cost. That will be emailed to you.
WHO DO YOU SHIP WITH?
All our US and Canada orders are shipped with either Fedex or DHL.
CAN I SHIP TO MULTIPLE ADDRESSES?
Unfortunately, we can only have one shipping address per order, but not to worry, you can place as many orders as you would like, to reflect all the different lucky receivers!

CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Once your order has gone through our system, it is extremely difficult for us to locate the parcel on our warehouse floor and manually change the address details. We kindly ask that you fully check your address details are correct before proceeding to checkout. For DHL Standard Shipping there is nothing further we can do. For Fedex Express Shipping, if you still require a change of address, you must sign up with FedEx Delivery Manager, and request a change of address on delivery at a cost of $5.55 per package.

Standard (DHL 2-5 day) and Express (Fedex 2 day) shipping options are available on checkout for USA and CANADA (excludes rural areas as this can take up to 5-7 business days). Cost will be calculated based on shipping location, item weight and service selected.
If you are ordering from overseas, shipping costs can be found when checking out.
DO YOU INCLUDE ORDER INFORMATION IN THE SHIPMENT?
No, we aren't in the business of ruining surprise gifts! All order information will be emailed to the address you give us when checking out. We don't put anything in the shipment, just in case it is a gift for someone. However, don't forget to leave your name on the message card if you'd like your sender to know who it's from!
CAN I CHANGE MY ORDER?
We are unable to change orders after they have gone through our system. Please be sure to check your order carefully before submitting.
HOW LONG DO YOU TAKE TO SHIP?
We aim to have orders placed before midday shipped the same day but almost always, they'll be shipped within two business days to ensure you receive your Metalbird promptly.

CAN GIFT VOUCHERS BE RETURNED?
You have the right to cancel your Metalbird.com gift voucher at any time, provided that you have not used the gift voucher. In case of cancellation, Metalbird will refund the amount of the gift voucher to the original payment method used during ordering within 14 days of cancellation.
WHEN WILL MY GIFT VOUCHER EXPIRE?
Our gift vouchers do not have an expiration date.
HOW DO I USE MY GIFT VOUCHER?
Treat your gift card as cash! Input your unique voucher code before checking out. If you owe more than what is left on the card - no worries! Simply use any other preferred payment method to cover the remainder.

WHAT ARE THE PERKS OF PRIME?
Buy with Prime allows U.S. based Prime Members to shop our Metalbird 'Prime Collection' to receive fast, free delivery, a seamless checkout experience, and easy returns.
HOW DO I PLACE AN ORDER WITH PRIME?
Head to our Metalbird 'Prime collection' in the header bar and select your perfect bird with the blue 'Prime' logo. Now click the blue 'Buy with Prime' button and sign into your Amazon account. Your details will auto-populate for you to finalize the order then you're away flying.
You will then receive an order confirmation email after placing your order and once dispatched another shipping confirmation email with a link for tracking.
WHO DO I CONTACT ABOUT MY ORDER?
Orders placed with "Buy with Prime" are best assisted directly with the Amazon team so here is a simple guide on how you can get support through Amazon:
- 1. Open your 'Buy with Prime' order confirmation email
- 2. Click on 'View order' for details or 'Contact us' for queries
- 3. If you'd like to chat, pick your support topic and select 'Start chat'
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TRACK MY ORDER?
The best way is to log into your Prime account on amazon.com and go to Your Orders. Simply select the order you want to track, select Track Package and you will see all updates to view delivery updates.
HOW TO RETURN MY PRIME ORDER?
It's a simple process that starts with opening your 'Buy with Prime' order confirmation email.
From here :
- 1. Click on 'Order details' that'll take you to the online returns center
- 2. To start your return: Click on the 'Return' button. (Note: This will only appear after the order has been delivered.)
- 3. For multiple-item orders, you'll need to specify the quantity you're returning yet if it's just one bird, you'll be taken directly to the return details page
- 4. Now provide any additional details, such as the reason & confirm the estimated refund amount etc..
- 5. Once you've set up the return, you'll receive a confirmation email with a 'Print return label' option. Attach this to your package & drop off at the designated carrier location indicated on the label
