Tiny bird. Huge fanbase.

The Chickadee might be small, but it’s beloved across North America—especially in Massachusetts and Maine, where it proudly holds the title of state bird. With its oversized head, big personality, and signature “chick-a-dee-dee-dee” call, this little legend is impossible not to love.

Our silhouette captures the Chickadee’s curiosity and charm in steel form. Whether it’s for a friend who’s always the life of the party or your own backyard setup, it’s guaranteed to bring a smile (and maybe a few real birds along for the ride).

This little bird settles in fast. Here’s how.

1. Choose a wooden surface – Tree trunks, fence posts, or even a raised planter edge work great.
2. Hold the stake at a slight downward angle – This helps guide the tap and adds grip.
3. Tap the thickest part of the stake with a hammer or mallet until firmly in place.
4. Adjust as needed – Chickadees are curious, but they like a steady perch.

Your Chickadee will weather into a soft, rusted patina—no maintenance required, just time and nature.

Why is the Chickadee so popular?
Apart from being adorable, it’s the state bird of both Massachusetts and Maine, known for its sweet call and bold little attitude. People love them because they’re friendly, curious, and stick around year-round—even through snowy winters.

What’s it made from?
Our Chickadee is laser-cut from 1/8-inch American Corten® steel, which weathers beautifully over time to a rich patina that protects the metal underneath.

Is it easy to install?
Very. Just tap the stake into any wooden surface at a downward angle—no screws, no drilling, no stress.

Is this a good size for small spaces?
Yes—it’s one of our smallest designs, perfect for balcony railings, planters, or compact gardens where every inch counts.

Will it come gift-ready?
Absolutely. It ships flat in a beautifully designed 11" x 8" box, ready to wrap or pop straight in the mail.

Each Metalbird is crafted from Corten® Steel, a premium, weathering steel made to last.

When it meets the elements, it doesn’t rust like your old BBQ. It transforms.

That change you’re seeing? That’s patina. A tough, protective outer layer that seals the steel, adds character, and preserves your bird for decades.

This isn’t paint. It’s nature’s way of ageing gracefully.

The Patina Process:

At first, you’ll notice bright orange spots (we call this the teenage phase). Soon enough, the whole bird will turn a bold orange, slowly shifting into deep burnt umber. Eventually, it settles into a moody charcoal that feels like it’s always belonged.

The Result? A piece of industrial art with a heartbeat. No peeling, no fading, just a bird that gets better with age.
