Corten is weathering steel. Its gray surface changes through orange and brown tones outdoors as a natural rust patina develops. Each setting leaves its own mark, so color and timing vary. Allow water to drain and keep rusty runoff away from pale stone, walls and other surfaces that could stain.

Choose sound, solid timber and leave room for birds to perch. Hold the feeder securely and tap the thick end of the mounting spike into the wood until steady. Hard wood may need a pilot hole. Wear gloves and eye protection, and keep fingers clear of the food spike. Remove old food and clean regularly.
